Catalin DeWald 561 'Jewel' Radio in butterscotch with maroon trim. One of only 3 Catalin radios ever manufactured by DeWald and made in 1939. The beautiful butterscotch catalin cabinet has faint marbleizing and a beautiful gloss. The original maroon trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a DeWald model. The design of this radio while boxy has numerous Art Deco elements such as the outline grill surrounding the grill slits, semi-circle handle and fluted knobs. This is an uncommon DeWald model to find in any color combination. Radio cabinet has no cracks, hairlines or repairs; however it does have two small chips on the bottom back edge where back panel would have attached (common to this model). The maroon trim is all original with no cracks, chips, or repairs. DeWald decal is original to the radio and in great condition. Dial plastic + grille cloth have been replaced. Translucent Yellow Catalin General Television radio model 591 with contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial face frame. Made by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 591 is the only catalin model made by the company. The cabinet on the catalin GTV has great clear and yellow swirls that add depth to the radio. The gold face features a stunning textured deco pattern, with a red Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. The radio an incredibly preserved original example with a beautiful and natural gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The ivory plaskon trim is complete + original to the radio and has no cracks, chips or repairs. The dial plastic is a correct replacement. Radio retains the original manufacturer's label affixed to the chassis designating chassis as a model 591, correct for the catalin version of the radio and the original cardboard back panel in great condition. Regal Air King A-600 'Duchess' catalin radio in yellow with marbleized bright jade green trim, is a substantial radio with a unique design + construction. Designed in 1946, this radio is comprised of 3 separate catalin pieces setting it apart from other radios of the time. The front of the cabinet is consists of two colors, the yellow insert grille and the green surround, both cast separately which are fastened to the yellow cabinet. It is believed that the front surround + the large attached grill are among the largest cast catalin parts ever made. The faintly marbleized yellow catalin cabinet is contrasted with the heavily marbleized jade green trim. The stately size of this radio, the color, and contrasting trim make for a stunning Art Deco radio. Radio cabinet has been hand polished to a beautiful gloss. Great 2-Tone Sonora 'Coronet' Catalin Radio

1941 Sonora KM 'Coronet' Radio in yellow catalin with plum catalin trim makes for a great Art Deco radio in a wonderful color combination. This is the only Catalin radio produced by Sonora Radio of Chicago, Illinois. The subtly marbleized Catalin cabinet has beautiful transparency that gives the radio depth. This scarce catalin radio has no cracks, tube burns or repairs to cabinet or trim; however it does have a small chip on the bottom back edge as seen. The radios plum front faceplate, knobs and handle are original to the radio and makes for a nice contrast in color. Dial plastic, water-slide decal and mesh grill cloth are correct replacements. Striking Ebony Sparton 517B Radio Walter Dorwin Teague Design

Rare Ebony Lacquer with Chrome Trim Sparton Radio

Striking and Rare 1936 517-B Sparton 'Cube' with the ebony lacquer finish + polished metal trim is a seldom seen Art Deco radio. Manufactured by the Sparks-Withington Company of Jackson, Michigan and was the creation of renowned industrial designer Walter Dorwin Teague. This model radio was one of three finishes available in 1936: wood, ivory and ebony. Of the three, the 517-B in ebony is the only one that was available with polished metal strips and the ribbed knobs also with metal inserts, a feature that in my opinion sets it quite apart from all the other cube radios of the period. This is truly a striking radio to look at. This radios cabinet has been carefully restored back to its original state, black lacquer has a beautiful sheen. The bottom, inside and back edge of cabinet were not repainted in to retain its originality. The 3 polished metal strips are original to the radio and are in very good original condition with light surface wear consistent with age and use. The Art Deco black, red and orange celluloid dial scale is not faded. Knobs are original and are the same ones used on other Teague designed models such as the 557 and Sparton 558. Radio retains the original grill cloth in wonderful condition with only minimal wear consistent with age. Dial plastic is a correct replacement. Please note how the original trim for this radio is tapered on each end (front + back edge) and is hollow with channel that allows a special screw to be interested/slid and attached to the cabinet; see photo of detail. I've been told that this trim fastening system is similar to how Porsche made and secured the trim on the iconic 356 models. Radio measures approximately 13.5" wide x 12.5" high x 9" deep. Sparton 558 considered one of the Best Examples of Deco Streamline Design

Stunning original blue mirror Sparton 558 '4-knob' radio designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1937. The radio, known as the 'sled' or '4-knob' is a considered to be one of the best examples of Deco Streamline style. The radio features etched blue mirrors on the front, top and left side, with crystalline finish ebony lacquer finish and 5 chrome fins or speed lines. The asymmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. The mirrors were etched in such a way as to give the illusion of having multiple layers of glass. Radio is in great all-original condition and is free of chips, or cracks to the all-original cobalt blue mirrors. The original glass is beautiful and bright with only minor foxing to finish and minor scratches consistent with age and use like they all have. The wood 'sled' base has original ebony lacquer in nice original condition with the crystalline finish still visible. The four knobs are original to the radio. Chrome fins have retain the original chrome in wonderful condition with only some small signs of age. This beautiful jet black Bakelite Detrola 'Super Pee-Wee' model 219 midget tube radio is one in a series of popular designs that Detrola produced. Even though the line of midget radios produced by Detrola was popular in its time and was offered in many color combinations, it has become hard to find in any combination due to its fragile cases. This example is made of jet black Bakelite with marbleized beetle plastic grill and black tenite knobs. George W. Walker designed this cabinet for Detrola in 1938. Walker also designed automobiles for the Ford Motor Co., and numerous other products for companies including Admiral Radios, and Willys Trucks. This cabinet’s design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling. It has great rounded edges and applied Bakelite "wrap around" grill that travels around the radio. The jet black cabinet + swirled beetle trim are free of any cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. Dial and volume knobs have the usual slight warp. Beautiful Bright Blue Catalin Art Deco Emerson 'Patriot' model FC-400 designed in 1940 by industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes. With war looming over Europe and becoming an increasing threat to the USA, this radio's theme struck a chord with American radio buyers, who turned it into a best seller for Emerson. Bel Geddes sought to promote American technology, industry, and identity, through the use of the stars-and-stripes design of the radio. This 'Patriot' design in turn helped bolster national pride during the difficult years of the Great Depression. This example would make for a wonderful addition to a radio or deco collection. The bright blue Catalin cabinet has been cut/polished back to its original factory color by us and has a beautiful gloss. Great Motorola 52 'Vertical Grill' catalin radio in beautiful marbleized green with yellow trim. This model was the first in a series of three different Catalin cabinet radios produced by Motorola. Manufactured in 1939 by Motorola Radio also known to collectors as the 'Vertical Grill'. This Motorola design highlights the Art Deco elements of the era. The green on this example is highlighted by swirls of light yellow, brown and clear to add depth to the color. This beautiful radio would make a fantastic addition to a collection.The details in the design are unique with its vertically louvered grill, which, feathers out from the center to the left + right and hexagonal knobs make for an unusual design and highly sought after radio. The cabinet features streamlined hand incised grooves that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together while adding to the geometric aspect of the radio. The metallic dial face is decorated with deco numerals and the Motorola logo written in script. Seldom seen Bright Blue Plaskon Detrola 'Split-Grille' 274 Tube Radio is one of the most elusive designs that Detrola ever produced. This example is made of solid blue Plaskon with white Tenite knobs and 'Split-Grilles'. This cabinet's design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling with it's great rounded edges + molded plastic ridges that travel around the base of radio and separate 'split' louvered grills. The cabinets of these sets are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived. Spectacularly Marbleized Emerson AU-190 Catalin Tombstone radio from 1937 in a Brown or Circassian Onyx as referred to by Emerson. This radio is absolutely stunning + seldom found in this color. The brown heavily swirled Catalin cabinet is beautifully marbleized with tones of yellow, clear + brown that add depth to an already beautiful radio. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a great example of this seldom seen color Emerson 'Tombstone' model. Radio cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs and has a beautiful gloss to it. The 3 matching catalin knobs are perfect + original to the radio. Gold fabric grill cloth is original + in great condition with only small signs of age. Radio retains the original back panel in good condition. Water-slide decal + dial plastic are correct replacements. Radio has small scratches consistent with age + use of set.
