Kadette Radio

Ann Arbor - Michigan  [1931-1940]

Kadette Radio International radio corporation's Kadette brand is well known for some of the earliest Bakelite radios produced. It's line of very small Kadette brand AC/DC radio in a Bakelite + Plaskon cabinets was popular with consumers.

The 1931 Kadette H "Gothic" which has been described as the 1st Bakelite radio made and marked the beginning of Bakelite radios and of transformer-less AC/DC sets. The radios Gothic look with arches on the front of the case was traditional but the material it was made from was far from traditional. The intricate cabinet was made by Chicago Molded Products Co.. The model was very popular and allowed a very good start of the company.

During it's short lived existence Kadette went on to manufacture other popular Bakelite radios such as the Model F Jr., Jewel, the elusive Topper and their only Catalin cased radio the "Clockette". All of these models have become difficult to find and popular with Collectors.
