Arvin Radio

Columbus, Indiana  [1927]

Arvin Radio Arvin Noblitt-Sparks Industries of Columbus, Indiana made bakelite, catalin and metal radios. The Arvin line was produced by Noblitt-Sparks Industries which was founded in 1927 and originally manufactured auto parts. Then in 1933 they began producing automoblie radios and by 1934, they were making radios for the home.  The only catalin radio made by Arvin was the model 532 which was available in 2 color combinations: maroon/yellow(alabaster) and yellow(alabaster)/tortoise.  The 532 model with the dial on the left side with its chunky "tractor wheel" knobs makes for unique design features not found on other catalin radios of the time.
