FADA 652 Catalin Radio Blue + Yellow Insert Grill 'Temple' - Rare
Beautiful Original Insert Grille 2-Tone FADA 652 Catalin Radio
Rare Insert Grill FADA 652 'Temple' Catalin radio in a beautiful stunning blue + butterscotch with incredible marbleizing. The insert grill models rarely show up and are even harder to find in blue...the best color. The green patina this radio has taken on is beautiful - radio has only been lightly polished to a high gloss. The green(blue) colored cabinet has veins of yellow with tones of blue running through it that makes this an incredible example. The yellow grille, knobs and dial bezel adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a FADA Temple model. The model 652 was part of the 1940-1942 radio lineup. This rare blue and yellow FADA 652 is in wonderful condition with no chips, repairs or tube burns. Cabinet does have three very small tight hairlines coming off the corners of the insert grill opening, this is a common occurrence on the rarer insert grill models (difficult to photograph and see in person and when displayed). The original yellow catalin louvered insert grill has one small hairline that is only visible when radio is tilted back; see last photo. Yellow dial surround and gum-drop knobs are original and in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. Reverse painted dial glass is an exact replacement for the original one, which often is damaged on this model. Radio retains the original cardboard back panel. This beautiful FADA has been well taken care of and has some scratches consistent with light use.This is truly an incredibly rare original radio that would make a great addition to any collection. Beautiful Sparton radio model 409 cobalt blue mirror deco radio. Designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1938. The small radio, known as the '7-Sided' is a great example of geometric Art Deco design. The radio features a beveled cobalt blue mirror with contrasting ebony lacquer ribbed feet and reverse silk-screened Deco dial numerals. The symmetrical, geometric shape and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. This is a prime example of a highly sought after Art Deco radio that is matched by no other manufacturer in its flair and presence. Radio is in great all original condition and is free of chips and cracks to the original 2 pieces of mirror. Mirror has not been re-silvered and therefore retains the original gray flock on backside of mirror. Mirrors have some wear consistent with age + use that is accentuated by the flash photographs. Wood cabinet has the original light gray flock finish also great original condition with some light signs of age. The black Bakelite knobs are original to radio. The three rosettes + phillips head screws that attach the mirror pieces to the cabinet are original. Rare + Beautiful Art Deco 1941 General Electric light yellow with marbleized blue trim L-571 Catalin Radio. This blue trim example is one of only a handful know to exist, it is extremely rare. The blue trim is heavily marbleized, translucent and awesome looking. The light/medium yellow cabinet has faint clear and lighter yellow marbleizing that add depth. This model GE is one of only two Catalin radios ever manufactured by General Electric and made in 1941. The design of this radio while boxy has numerous Art Deco elements such as the louvered grill, semi-circle handle and fluted knobs. This beautiful set is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs to the cabinet or trim. The marbleized blue catalin trim is original to the radio and is also perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. Seldom seen FADA Model 115 Pre-War 'Bullet' Catalin Streamliner in beautiful marbleized translucent Onyx Green and Yellow marbleized trim. This radio's styling epitomizes 1940’s Streamline Art Deco design. Its sleek, rounded lines suggest speed and practicality, hallmarks of streamlined industrial design from those years. The original marbleized yellow trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a seldom found Pre-War FADA 115 Bullet model. The model 115 differs from its postwar counterpart, in that it has the smooth 'gumdrop' knobs, a split dial face with what looks like a large Roman numeral through the center of it and a copper foil grill cloth that is installed vertically. Stunning Art Deco Sparton 'Bluebird' cobalt blue mirror model 566 radio with factory original matching plateau designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1936. The radio, known as the 'Bluebird' is a considered to be a great example of Deco Streamline style. The radio features a 14" cobalt blue mirror disc, with contrasting ebony lacquer ball feet finished with and 3 chromed bands or 'speed lines' dissecting the circular speaker + dial surround. The symmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. The display plateau is an original Sparton add-on item that was offered at the time of purchase for an additional cost; please see photo of original advertising. The cobalt blue mirror measures the same size as the radio mirror 14" and is the same color. Rare Kadette Blue Plaskon tube radio model H also known by collectors as the 'Gothic' model. This 1931 radio was made by the International Radio Corp. in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is one of the first mass produced plastic radios. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a stunning example of this Kadette model. This extremely rare beauty is in excellent condition with no cracks, tube burns or repairs and all trim pieces are original. It does have a small chip at the on/off toggle switch caused by toggling the switch a common issue with this model and a tiny stress line on the front bottom right, barely visible . The radio still retains the original matching blue molded plaskon back, which has the common minor stress hairline cracks, heat mark and chips. These slight issues in no way detract form the beauty and rarity of this radio, as they cannot be seen from the front of the radio. Radio has the original matching blue plaskon flower knobs and gold toned metal dial scales and tags all in great condition. Silvertone 'Election' Bakelite/Plaskon Radio designed by John R. Morgan
This lavender plaskon Silvertone 4511 'Election' radio is a beautiful example of 1930's Streamlined Machine Age design in plastic. The design includes great rounded edges and molded plastic ridges that travel up and around the radio. The single piece cabinet that can be viewed from all sides is the work of noted industrial designer John R. Morgan. This truly is a rare and striking design for an Art Deco Radio in an even more rare of a color. This model first appeared in the 1936 Sears catalog and won first prize as an object of 'outstanding beauty' in the nationwide Modern Plastics Competition in New York City Note that the cases of this model are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived. These cases often cracked or became distorted due to the heat of the tubes and the weight of the chassis, which slides in from the bottom. The beautiful lavender colored Plaskon/Bakelite cabinet is in great original condition and retains a beautiful luster. The cabinet has no chips, burns, or repairs. It does have a few tight hairlines and small scuffs/nicks common to Plaskon radios of the time that can be seen in the photos. These in no way detract from this rare radio. Emerson 744B Mid-Century Radio Beige with Maroon Bakelite
Great 1950s Design Radio
Emerson 744B radio in beige with maroon is one of the most unusual and sought after radios of the 1950s, and was available in numerous color combinations. The colored cabinets are made of Plaskon / Bakelite with contrasting styrene plastic grill and knobs. The radical design with its raised dome shaped top and large front half round dial reminds me of the dashboard out of a vintage 1950's automobile. The 'feet' on the bottom of the face of the radio are very fragile and are often found cracked or altogether broken off....this one has intact feet. The cabinet is free of any cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The maroon front and knobs are also damage free and original, the 'feet' are intact. Radio retains the manufacturers sticker affixed to the bottom and the original dial pointer with some light paint touch-up. Radio has some light scratches consistent with age and careful use. Machine Age Silvertone 'Rocket' 6109 Radio Brown Bakelite
Striking example of 1930's Machine Age design designed by Clarence Karstadt
1938 Silvertone Model 6109 in Marbled Brown Bakelite. This incredible radio is referred to by collectors and design addicts alike as the 'Rocket', and is a particularly striking example of 1930's Machine Age design. Designed at the height of the Art Deco era by Clarence Karstadt, it is clear that it was inspired by the streamlined locomotives of the time. The radio's styling is unsurpassed, and it has been cited in a numerous books and articles as a highlight of the Machine-Age design movement. Even though it was prominently featured in all of the Sears catalogs of the time, it was not a strong seller and is extremely rare and difficult to find. The condition of the radio is as close to perfect as you will be able to find, as this set is very prone to damage and few have survived in this great of a condition. The chassis is heavy and the case is closed on all sides. This design often caused heat build-up and eventual cracking for many of these radios thus limiting their survival. The flawless brown Bakelite cabinet is beautifully marbleized with some lighter shades of brown as can be seen in the photos. Cabinet + trim has no chips, warping or repairs and still retains its original grill cloth and all manufacturers sticker and tags. The matching back or side panel, by which the chassis is removed, is held on only by a single spring and often is missing or broken -- this one is perfect, with no cracks, warping, chips, or repairs. The original large Bakelite tuning dial that takes up the entire end of the radio is perfect with no cracks, chips, burns or repairs and still has the original Bakelite retaining screw also un-cracked. The 6 Bakelite push buttons on top are all original and in great condition as well, call letter papers are exact replacements. Unique Lite-Up Glass + Chrome Deco Radio from 1936 - All Original
Incredible Radio-Glo in stained glass with chrome + ebonized wood. This seldom seen radio is made of cobalt blue and white stained glass panels that light-up from the inside. The skyscraper designed radio is accented by chromed metal, vertical spacers, and pilasters. The stained glass panels light-up from the inside giving the radio a warm glow, setting it apart from other radios manufactured in the 1930s. This interesting feature along with the use of different materials makes for a highly unusual and rare Art Deco radio. Manufactured by the Radio-Glo Company Inc. of, Benton Harbor, Michigan is the only radio made by the company. Designed and patented by George A. Stamm for the Radio-Glo Company in 1936. Radio is in great all-original condition with some wear to chrome + ebonized wood as would be expected from age and use. All stained glass is original to the radio and is in wonderful condition with cracks or damage. Radio retains the original black Bakelite knobs and grill cloth. Beautiful dial has two dark spots. This scarce set of polystyrene radios from 1953 has a great bullseye designed grillwork with a silver perforated speaker cover. The symmetrical design is highlighted by the two-tone knobs and stylized Sparton name embossed on the front of the cabinet. These were the only 3 colors manufactured by Sparton for this model. Radios are all original and free of any cracks, chips, burns or repairs to cabinet or trim. Radios have been well taken care of and only show some scratches consistent with age and careful use. Radios measures approximately: 8.75" wide by 6" high by 3.75" deep. These radios are sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Radios are being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician prior to use.

Catalin Motorola 'Circle-Grille' Model 50-XC-3 radio in highly marbleized oatmeal with patina'd oatmeal catalin trim. The Motorola 50XC is a magnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio manufactured in 1940 by Motorola Radio. This radio is also known to collectors as the 'Circle Grille'. This Motorola design is considered one of the most appealing sets of its time beautifully designed in the Art Deco Style. This example is one of the nicest I have had, the strong oatmeal color combined with the highly marbleized cabinet and trim makes it stand out from others. The Catalin has a deep shine that makes its oatmeal color glow + show off exceptionally striking brown, clear, and white marbleizing. The details are unique with its round Catalin speaker bezel, scalloped handle, and hexagonal knobs. The cabinet features streamlined ridges that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together. The golden dial face is also decorated with deco numerals and sunburst designs that emanate from a red plastic dial pointer with the letter "M" cast in to it. This radio's beautiful catalin cabinet is in perfect original condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns, or repairs. The radio retains its original oatmeal catalin trim with no cracks, chips or repairs. Radio has been polished back to its factory original oatmeal color from it's oxidized pumpkin coloring, trim was left alone to add contrast to an exceptional radio. The grill cloth is original to the radio + has no tears or stains with only a small amount of wear consistent with age. Cardboard back panel is original to the radio. Dial plastic cover is a correct replacement. This radio measures approximately: 9.5" wide by 5.75" high by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete.
