Silvertone 'Election' Bakelite/Plaskon Radio designed by John R. Morgan

This lavender plaskon Silvertone 4511 'Election' radio is a beautiful example of 1930's Streamlined Machine Age design in plastic. The design includes great rounded edges and molded plastic ridges that travel up and around the radio. The single piece cabinet that can be viewed from all sides is the work of noted industrial designer John R. Morgan. This truly is a rare and striking design for an Art Deco Radio in an even more rare of a color. This model first appeared in the 1936 Sears catalog and won first prize as an object of 'outstanding beauty' in the nationwide Modern Plastics Competition in New York City Note that the cases of this model are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived. These cases often cracked or became distorted due to the heat of the tubes and the weight of the chassis, which slides in from the bottom. The beautiful lavender colored Plaskon/Bakelite cabinet is in great original condition and retains a beautiful luster. The cabinet has no chips, burns, or repairs. It does have a few tight hairlines and small scuffs/nicks common to Plaskon radios of the time that can be seen in the photos. These in no way detract from this rare radio. Radio retains the original matching lavender plastic knobs, manufacturers paper label and the gold textured fabric grill cloth on front and rear. Rare Yellow with Raspberry catalin Addison 2 'Waterfall' radio made circa 1940 by Addison Industries Limited in Canada. This is the rarest color combo from the 4 it was available in. The unique styling and bold use of color would make this radio a truly beautiful addition to any collection. This stylized Art Deco radio features the famous 'waterfall' speaker grill trim and surround 'bumpers' with speed-lines that really make for a streamlined radio design. Fada 5F60 Catalin radio in onyx green/pea-green with a highly swirled yellow insert grill. This prewar 1936/37 is one of the earliest catalin radio models made and has a simple and distinct cabinet design. This onyx + yellow +example is in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. This is a striking radio color combination, the faint brown, orange and yellow marbleizing adds depth to the color. This model has come to be known to collectors as the 'Baby Fada' because of its small size. The catalin cabinet retains the factory gloss, the yellow grill adds contrast and style to this stunning example. Great 1950s Design Radio

Emerson 744B radio in beige with maroon is one of the most unusual and sought after radios of the 1950s, and was available in numerous color combinations. The colored cabinets are made of Plaskon / Bakelite with contrasting styrene plastic grill and knobs. The radical design with its raised dome shaped top and large front half round dial reminds me of the dashboard out of a vintage 1950's automobile. The 'feet' on the bottom of the face of the radio are very fragile and are often found cracked or altogether broken off....this one has intact feet. The cabinet is free of any cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The maroon front and knobs are also damage free and original, the 'feet' are intact. Radio retains the manufacturers sticker affixed to the bottom and the original dial pointer with some light paint touch-up. Radio has some light scratches consistent with age and careful use. 1938 Silvertone Model 6109 in Marbled Brown Bakelite. This incredible radio is referred to by collectors and design addicts alike as the 'Rocket', and is a particularly striking example of 1930's Machine Age design. Designed at the height of the Art Deco era by Clarence Karstadt, it is clear that it was inspired by the streamlined locomotives of the time. The radio's styling is unsurpassed, and it has been cited in a numerous books and articles as a highlight of the Machine-Age design movement. Even though it was prominently featured in all of the Sears catalogs of the time, it was not a strong seller and is extremely rare and difficult to find. The condition of the radio is as close to perfect as you will be able to find, as this set is very prone to damage and few have survived in this great of a condition. The chassis is heavy and the case is closed on all sides. This design often caused heat build-up and eventual cracking for many of these radios thus limiting their survival. The flawless brown Bakelite cabinet is beautifully marbleized with some lighter shades of brown as can be seen in the photos. Cabinet + trim has no chips, warping or repairs and still retains its original grill cloth and all manufacturers sticker and tags. The matching back or side panel, by which the chassis is removed, is held on only by a single spring and often is missing or broken -- this one is perfect, with no cracks, warping, chips, or repairs. The original large Bakelite tuning dial that takes up the entire end of the radio is perfect with no cracks, chips, burns or repairs and still has the original Bakelite retaining screw also un-cracked. The 6 Bakelite push buttons on top are all original and in great condition as well, call letter papers are exact replacements. Unique Lite-Up Glass + Chrome Deco Radio from 1936 - All Original

Incredible Radio-Glo in stained glass with chrome + ebonized wood. This seldom seen radio is made of cobalt blue and white stained glass panels that light-up from the inside. The skyscraper designed radio is accented by chromed metal, vertical spacers, and pilasters. The stained glass panels light-up from the inside giving the radio a warm glow, setting it apart from other radios manufactured in the 1930s. This interesting feature along with the use of different materials makes for a highly unusual and rare Art Deco radio. Manufactured by the Radio-Glo Company Inc. of, Benton Harbor, Michigan is the only radio made by the company. Designed and patented by George A. Stamm for the Radio-Glo Company in 1936. Radio is in great all-original condition with some wear to chrome + ebonized wood as would be expected from age and use. All stained glass is original to the radio and is in wonderful condition with cracks or damage. Radio retains the original black Bakelite knobs and grill cloth. Beautiful dial has two dark spots. The Motorola 50XC is a magnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio manufactured in 1940 by Motorola Radio. This radio is also known to collectors as the 'Circle Grille'. This Motorola design is considered one of the most appealing sets of its time beautifully designed in the Art Deco Style. This example is one of the nicest I have had, the strong oatmeal color combined with the highly marbleized cabinet and trim makes it stand out from others. The Catalin has a deep shine that makes its oatmeal color glow + show off exceptionally striking brown, clear, and white marbleizing. The details are unique with its round Catalin speaker bezel, scalloped handle, and hexagonal knobs. The cabinet features streamlined ridges that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together. The golden dial face is also decorated with deco numerals and sunburst designs that emanate from a red plastic dial pointer with the letter "M" cast in to it. Highly Marbliezed Catalin General Television Radio

Rare Turquoise Catalin General Television radio 591, with beautiful contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial trim. Made by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 591 is the only Catalin model made by the company. The cabinet on the Catalin GTV has great turquoise, white + clear swirls that add depth to the radio. The gold face features a stunning textured deco sunburst pattern, with a red Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. This is the rarest of the 3-catalin colors made of this great Art Deco radio and is seldom seen. This original radio has beautiful gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. Radio has been hand cut/polished back to the original turquoise factory color - this is as intense as they get color wise when original. Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or repairs; however it does have mild discoloration/fading of the color on the top which is a common occurrence on this rare radio.
