AWA Fisk Radiolette "Empire State" Radio in Beetle Plastic Bakelite
Beautiful AWA Fisk Skyscraper Radio in Marbled Beetle Plastic
Art Deco scarce 1930's Skyscraper FISK Radiolette by AWA "Empire State" tube radio made of a lustrous highly marbled Beetle Plastic Bakelite, with beautifully contrasting chrome dial bezel surround. The ivory base color of the Beetle Plastic Plaskon with the purple, navy and bright orange marbling make this radio stand out. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1934 model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1934 model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. This radio is the AUS version of the American made Air King "Skyscraper" designed by Harold Van Doren. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Radio is in wonderful original condition with only some small tight hairlines in the fragile Plaskon case and knobs. Grill cloth, knobs, chrome trim and dial face are original to the radio. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.

Baby Addison A2 in Marbled Navy Blue + White Art Deco Bakelite Radio
Beautifully Marbleized 1940's Art Deco Design
Baby Addison A2 in Marbleized Navy Blue with Creamy White trim Bakelite / Plaskon Tube Radio made circa 1940 by Addison Industries Limited in Canada. The unique styling, bold use of color, and dramatic marbleizing would make this radio a truly beautiful addition to any collection. This stylized Art Deco radio features the famous "waterfall" speaker grill trim and surround "bumpers" with speed-lines that really make for a streamlined radio design. If you are looking for a great addition to your collection, please consider this beauty. This particular example is a stunning radio in excellent original condition with no chips, dings, scratches, or repairs on the cabinet. Highly marbleized cabinet has one small hairline crack hidden under the right white trim piece. This is not noticeable from the exterior of the radio as it is completely covered by the trim. It can only be seen when looking in from the back of the radio. In no way does this detract from the radio. The creamy white Plaskon trim is complete and factory original to the radio and has no chips, burns or repairs. The original matching marbleized knobs are also perfect. The chassis seems complete and still has its original color coordinated dial scale. The dial plastic is original and in great condition with very little yellowing and clear.
