Rare Gilbert Rohde Art Deco Clock for Herman Miller w/ Black Cylindrical Feet
Seldom Seen Rohde Clock with Juxtaposed Reverse Painted Face
Rare Gilbert Rohde Machine Age electric alarm clock manufactured by the Herman Miller Clock Company in the early 1930s. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including a chrome-ringed reverse painted face that sits on two black enameled "cylindrical" feet. The clocks reverse painted face with streamline numerals juxtaposed on a black background with ivory hands, and a red second hand heighten the appeal of this rare clock. Similar in design to model # 4706 but with painted black metal "cylindrical" feet and a reverse painted clock face juxtaposed on a black background with ivory hands. This most likely is a prototype/sample used to finalize the production model. Clock has original early Herman Miller label affixed to rear of clock. The condition of this clock can only be described as near mint. Painted dial glass is original with no cracks, chips or deterioration to the paint. Some slight wear to black enameled feet and some wear to chrome consistent with age and use. The clock is fitted with an alarm and a starter wheel that is not in working condition at this time (can be repaired if desired). This table clock measures approximately 6 1/4" high by 6" wide by 3" deep. Vintage clocks are not guaranteed to keep accurate time and to continue working after shipping.

Seldom seen GLOBE catalin radio in a Merlot with Butterscotch trim. This radio with the dial on the left side makes for a unique design feature not found on other catalin radios of the time. This beautiful Art Deco radio features a butterscotch catalin 'waterfall' speaker insert grill + knobs. Rare Leonardo branded Catalin Bakelite Polka-Dot small desk clock in dark brown (almost black) with butterscotch inset dots. I have never seen this polka-dot clock before and it is spectacular. I believe the original color was blue with white inset dots. These little catalin clocks look great as a collection as seen in the last photo. Clock is in great condition showing only a small amount of wear consistent with age. Measures approximately: 4" wide 3" high by 1.5" deep. Lamp is marked "Nessen Studio, NY" on the base. The lamp sits on three ball feet of silver metal which perfectly compliment the top half of the lamp and finial. Beautiful Pre-War FADA "Bullet" Catalin Streamliner Model 115 in marbleized alabaster(white) with bright red marbleized trim. This radio's styling epitomizes 1940’s Streamline Art Deco design. Its sleek, rounded lines suggest speed and practicality, hallmarks of streamlined industrial design from those years. The original bright marbleized red trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a seldom found Pre-War FADA 115 Bullet model. The model 115 differs from its postwar counterpart, in that it has the smooth "gumdrop" knobs, a split dial face with what looks like a large Roman numeral through the center of it and a copper foil grill cloth that is installed vertically. The glossy alabaster catalin cabinet is highlighted by beautiful clear + whiter marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet. The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, breaks, repairs or tube burns. This radio is as clean as one can be found and would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection. Seldom seen Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio in white Plaskon with contrasting Blue Tenite grill + knobs. The "Super Boum" is a unique round shaped radio manufactured by Radialva in France circa 1940's. It is one of the most prized Bakelite radios from the French vintage radio market that is rarely available in the States. The design was inspired by the British "Ekco" radio in the forties, and the radio's high price and radical design with its bulls-eye grill was not well received by the public. Less than 2,000 Super Boum's were sold making this an extremely rare find. The unique styling and great condition would make this radio a truly beautiful and unique addition to any radio collection. This is an interesting design that uses two similar, equal sized pieces of Bakelite that come together in the center, secured by plastic screws. The chassis is inserted in the center and then enclosed by two pieces of Bakelite, like a suitcase. This French made Radialva radio with its circular design, clam-shell(interlocking) cabinet design + concentric circle grill is unlike any other radios of the time that makes for an absolutely stunning radio. The original half circle gold colored plastic dial face with names of cities around Europe is in great condition. This particular example is a stunning radio in excellent original condition with no cracks, chips, burns, or repairs to the cabinet. The pure white Bakelite cabinet has a wonderful natural gloss to it. This "Super Boum" has been well taken care of and only has some small scratches/marks consistent with light use and one almost invisible 1/2" stressline on the back section of cabinet. Rarely Seen Blue Sentinel Catalin Radio
Catalin Sentinel 284 'Outline Grill' radio in marbleized blue (oxidized to green) with butterscotch trim. Finding an example of this radio in blue is extremely difficult and only a few exist. This radio was made circa 1945 by The Sentinel Radio Company of Evanston, Illinois Known to collectors as 'outline grill' Sentinel, the designers surely drew inspiration from the automotive world. Along with the Catalin speaker grill surround and the slant front frequency indicator, the dial glass allows for easy viewing from above the radio as well, and acts as an additional architectural touch to make an already attractive radio into a true work of art. This set would make this radio a truly beautiful addition to any collection. The radio is just a stunning example of a blue catalin Sentinel model. The glossy Catalin blue cabinet has beautiful yellow and green marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet, it has no tube burns. Catalin cabinet has had a chip repaired on the cabinet by Dan Blake on the rear top left corner/side. Repair can only been seen when looking closely for it or by looking on inside of cabinet. This model is often found damaged due to the shrinking of the cabinet and the way chassis is mounted. Rare Sparton 457X 'Euro Sled' Radio Blue Mirror - Walter Dorwin Teague Design
Stunning European Version of the Sparton 3-Knob 557 Sled Radio
Rare export version Sparton 457X radio designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1936. The radio, known as the 'Euro-sled' is a considered to be one of the best examples of Deco Streamline style. The 'European' version differs from the 'US' model with three distinctive features, circular art deco dial face, center tuning knob and a different chassis configuration. The graphic deco circular dial face features the names of the most important European cities of the time. The radio features cobalt blue mirrors on the front, top and left side, with contrasting ebony crystalline finish and 5 chromed bands or "speed lines". The asymmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. This is a prime example of a highly sought rare version art deco radio that is matched by no other manufacturer in its flair and presence. Radio is in great all-original condition and is free of chips, or cracks to the original blue mirrors. Mirrors are original + look beautiful, with only minor surface scratches and oxidation consistent with age + use. Wood "sled" base has original ebony lacquer in great original condition with the crystalline finish still visible. Chrome is original with only minor pitting. Great and Rare Tom Thumb Orchid Catalin radio made in the late 1930s by the Automatic Radio Mfg. Co. The model 955 is known to collectors as the 'Oval-Dial' or 'Non-Deco'. The Tom Thumb name is a perfect fit for this radio - as it is one of the smallest radios made of catalin. This model has a design that is unique with attached catalin feet, an oval-shaped dial face, deco grill cutouts, and vertically positioned knobs. This marbleized rare orchid example is all original + in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Orchid cabinet is highlighted by incredible white, clear, lighter and darker orchid marbleizing. The beautifully marbleized cabinet has been cut/polished back to the original orchid from the oxidized orange-butterscotch; see last photo to see radio in as found condition. Raymond Loewy designed Colonial "New World" Globe model 702 is a striking and unusual Plaskon tube radio. Patented in 1933 this radio is early and very different from other novelty radios of the time. Circling the globe at its equator is a metal ring. Above this, at the top, is a decorative brass finial showing the compass directions. The condition of this rare radio is as close to perfect as can be found very few have survived intact. The Circassian Onyx Brown catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of brown and yellow that add depth to the catalin cabinet. This is an incredibly clean example and is among the most marbleized ones I have owned. Radio retains a beautiful gloss and is all-original and in fantastic condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. Brown Bakelite knobs are original to the radio and also free of defects. Radio retains the original gold textured fabric grill cloth, cardboard back panel, water-slide decal and manufactures stickers affixed to the inside of cabinet. Vertical copper colored vertical dial surround is bright and damage free. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with age + careful use. Small radio measure approximately: 7" wide by 4.75" high by 4.25" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Extremely rare Chocolate Brown highly swirled RCA 66X Series Catalin radio - this is one of only a few known examples in this color know to exist to this date. Known to collectors as the "Tuna Boat", this Catalin cabinet from the 1945 RCA 66X series of radios has the distinction of being the largest Catalin radio ever manufactured. This is a radio needs to be displayed with adequate lighting in order to show off the splendid color and marbleizing that it has. The brown swirled Catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of white, light yellow + dark brown that add depth to an already rare radio. Radio cabinet has been hand cut/polished by Decophobia and has an incredible gloss to it. Radio cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The 3 Dark Brown Bakelite Knobs are original to the radio. The gold fabric grill cloth is original to the radio and shows some wear consistent with age. Radio retains the original glass dial and manufacturers sticker on the bottom. This radio needs to be displayed with adequate lighting in order to show off the splendid color and marbleizing.
