Rarely Seen Deco Philco Model Radio

Ref: RA812

The elusive + striking Philco model UA-52P is an Art Deco beauty unlike any other radio made in late 1930s.  This radio incorporates a unique design + construction utilizing a two-piece jet black bakelite and this ivory plaskon cabinet.  The Philco UA-52P ‘Transitone’ includes all the fundamental elements of Deco design; designs that are both asymmetrical + geometric, stepped shapes with sharp + curved lines, pushbuttons and perfect proportions. This radio is considered by many to be one of the most Art Deco radios manufactured. The low production numbers and the fragile nature of this model has made them extremely rare + desirable today.

The radio is original, with a beautiful + natural sheen and is just a superb example of this Deco Philco model.  The jet black Bakelite bottom half of cabinet is free of any cracks, chips, hairlines or repairs. The ivory top section is also original with some damage commonly found on this model; hairlines and small chips/nicks.  Black bakelite knobs and pushbuttons are original to the radio and also free of any defects. The beautifully designed ivory plaskon dial pointer with its concentric circles is original to the radio and in perfect condition. Radio retains the original 'Transitone' decal on the front of cabinet and manufactures sticker affixed to the inside of cabinet. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some signs of use consistent with age. This stunning radio would make for a great addition to any radio or Art Deco collection as they are rarely seen.

Radio measures approximately: 10.5” wide at base(8.75” at top; stepped design) by 6.75 high by 4” deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
