Hudson-Ross 'Three Little Pigs' Novelty Tube Radio - Scarce

Rarely Seen Early Novelty Radio

Ref: RA1119

Super rare early 1930s Hudson-Ross, Inc. 'Three Little Pigs' wooden radio. There are only a hand full of these still in existence due in part to the limited number produced and mostly because of the fragility of the cabinet, pressed wood grillwork and appliqués. This is little cathedral radio measuring only about 9" tall. They were only available in 2 colors, parchment or light green with darker edge shading. Radio advertisement from the period said, "The famous "Three Little Pigs" have decided to have a radio of their own and it may be obtained from Hudson-Ross, Inc. 111 N. Canal Street, Chicago, Ill. Designed expressly for children's rooms with the three little pigs cavorting on the grille"

Radio is in exceptional condition retaining its original paint with some signs of wear and use, pressed-wood tinted grill work depicting the Three Little Pigs and side pig appliqués. Bakelite painted knobs, grill cloth, manufacturers sticker on chassis and brass dial scale are original and in good condition.  This radio would make for a rare addition to a collection.

This small radio measures approximately: 9” high by 7" Wide by 5" Deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete, cord is cut. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
