Rare Walter Dorwin Teague Art Deco Beauty

Ref: RA1028

Beautiful Gold/Yellow front Sparton Cloisonné with yellow catalin cabinet. The Sparton Cloisonné model 500C radio introduced in 1939 is a veritable Art Deco masterpiece designed by Walter Dorwin Teague. Its compact housing features a colorful metallic apricot cloisonné front, exquisitely trimmed with a streamline lace-work of chrome and framed with yellow catalin housing. This is the only radio designed that combines all three materials.

This radio is perfect with no chips or repairs to the butterscotch catalin; however it does have one small hairline on the bottom back by the black rubber foot that is barely visible. Cabinet has a typical mild tube burn that is often found on this model. Metallic Gold Cloisonné front in perfect original condition with only slight signs of age and use. Grill cloth is original to the set. Ivory plastic knobs are correct replacements. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with age + careful use. This is a great example of a radio that is seldom offered for sale especially in this great of a condition. This radio would make a great addition to any radio or Art Deco collection.

This compact radio measures approximately 8" wide by 5" high by 4.25 deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
