Great Early Wrap-Around FADA SW-57 Catalin Radio

Ref: RA677

FADA SW-57 in translucent marbleized onyx with yellow wrap-around grill, knobs + handle. This Art Deco catalin model made in 1939 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. The SW-57 version of the L-56 style is the shortwave model with a toggle switch on the back. The chassis in this model is bigger going all the way to the back edge; this made it that Fada had to add two factory holes on the bottom rear edge to secure the larger chassis. This seldom seen onyx + light yellow catalin example is a beautiful example with great swirls of white, green burnt orange with incredible translucency.

The glossy onyx catalin cabinet is in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs; it does have a super mild tube burn that blends perfectly with the swirls and color. Radio's cabinet has been cut/polished back to its original onyx green color from it's oxidized caramel coloring. The marbleized yellow insert grill, knobs and fluted knobs are original and have no damage. The beautiful graphic dial is bright and in great condition. Radio retains the original paper manufacturers label affixed to the bottom. The dial plastic + water-slide decal are correct replacements. Radio has small scratches consistent with age + use of set. This is a seldom found color combination that would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection.

Radio measures approximately: 9" wide by 5.5" high by 4" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
