Bird with Glass Eyes Curly Maple Made in England A. Dunhill Match Holder

Original Art Deco period Dunhill match holder + striker, made by Henry Howell & Co and retailed by Alfred Dunhill dating to the early 1930's. This iconic Dunhill piece is in fine original condition.

The striker is in the form of a bird and is made from a nicely figured burl wood, with yellow glass eyes and a maroon Catalin/Bakelite beak. The bird's body holds a box of matches and has a Shagreen strip on the tail, which acts as the striker. The bird is marked underneath ALFRED DUNHILL, LTD., Trademark, London, MADE IN ENGLAND.
