Gilbert Rohde Clock for Herman Miller Pre-Production Model - Art Deco
Stunning + Rare with Red Hands and Metal Base
Rare Gilbert Rohde designed Art Deco electric alarm clock with red large "Tear-Drop" hour hand + red minute hand. Similar in design to model # 4738 but slightly taller, red hands + metal base(not wood like other). This most likely is a prototype/sample used to finalize the production model. Clock is untouched and all original + has not been cleaned in any way. Manufactured by the Herman Miller Clock Company. Please see photos compared to model #4738 for size, base and hands difference.
Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design. The nickel-plated half sphere hour markers, large red teardrop hour hand, and a red minute hand heighten the appeal of this rare clock. This is a truly striking design.
The condition of this clock can only be described as near mint. Wood case is all-original with a beautiful lustre and only small signs of use. Black metal base has the original black paint. The clock is fitted with the original manual starting electric alarm movement with starter wheel that is in working condition at this time. Power cord is original + losing some of the black cloth covering. Silver second hand is a replacement.
This table clock measures approximately: 6.25" high by 5" wide by 2.0" deep. There is no guarantee of accuracy with it keeping time. If you wish to use it daily, it is recommended you have a qualified professional service it, as it may need lubrication and calibration.
