Art Deco Design with Contrasting Ivory Trim

Ref: RA138

Beautiful Art Deco General Television made of green marbleized Bakelite, with beautifully contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial face frame.  Made in mid 1940's by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 5A5.  The gold face features a stunning textured deco pattern, with a red Saturn shaped plastic station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears.

The radio is in original, untouched condition, with a beautiful and natural gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. The beautiful Bakelite cabinet and ivory polystyrene trim is in incredible original condition. Cabinet + trim have no cracks, chips, or repairs. Cabinet has a small heat crazing/burn on the top right side common occurrence for this color and model. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with light careful use. The gold dial is original and in great condition. The dial plastic is original and in great condition with very little yellowing and is clear.

Radio measures approximately: 8.85 wide by 7.5" high to the top of the handle by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
