Seldom Seen Color Combination Shortwave Model

Ref: RA418

FADA SW-57/L-56 in onyx with alabaster wrap-around grill, knobs + handle. This Art Deco catalin model made in 1939 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. The SW-57 version of the L-56 style is the shortwave model with a switch on the back. The chassis in this model is bigger going all the way to the back edge; this made it that Fada had to add two factory holes on the bottom rear edge to secure the larger chassis. This seldom seen onyx + alabaster/light yellow catalin example is a beautiful example with great swirls and translucency.

The glossy onyx catalin cabinet is in nice condition with no chips or repairs; however it does have a hairline on the bottom rear screw hole, see photo. The yellow marbleized catalin trim is original and free of cracks, chips, burns or repairs. Radio cabinet + trim were cut/polished back to the original onyx with alabaster. The beautiful graphic dial is bright and in great condition. Radio retains the original manufacturers stickers affixed to bottom of cabinet. The dial plastic + water-slide decal are correct replacements. This is a seldom found color combination that would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection.

Radio measures approximately: 9" wide by 5.5" high by 4" deep.  This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
