Art Deco FADA 1000 Catalin Radio

Ref: RA422

Deco FADA 'Bullet' Catalin Streamliner Model 1000 in light lemon yellow and onyx/pea-green marbleized catalin. This radio styling epitomizes 1940’s Streamline design. Its sleek, rounded lines suggest speed and practicality, hallmarks of streamlined industrial design from those years. FADA produced many radios and televisions over the years, but its Catalin radios, particularly the "Bullet" are the best-known models.

The Catalin cabinet has taken on a beautiful and even light yellow patina after having been cut/polished back to the original alabaster color about 2 years ago. The onyx trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a Machine Age FADA Bullet model. The glossy Catalin cabinet is perfect + has beautiful faint marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet.

The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, breaks, stress lines or repairs. Radio does have a mild tube burn that can be seen on the top. This in no way takes away from the beauty and style of this catalin radio. The onyx/pea-green Catalin dial ring, fluted knobs and handle are original FADA trim pieces in perfect condition with no cracks, stress lines, chips, breaks, burns or repairs. The "Gemloid" dial face has  two small cracks by dial pointer(see photos). Radio retains the original cardboard back panel in great condition. The radio retains the original gold grill cloth. The dial plastic cover is a correct replacement.

Radio measures approximately: 10.25" wide by 6.25" high by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems too be missing a few capacitors. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
