Catalin FADA 5F60 Radio Yellow with Onyx - Original
Beautiful Early Art Deco FADA 5F60 or "Baby Fada" Catalin Radio
This is a rare + perfect prewar 1936/37 Fada model 5F60-AU Catalin radio in faintly marbleized yellow with a translucent onyx grille. This is one of the earliest Catalin radio models made and has a simple and distinct cabinet design. This yellow + onyx example is all-original and in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Onyx grill has faint brown and yellow marbleizing and a beautiful transparency to it that gives it depth. This model has come to be known to collectors as the " Baby Fada" because of its small size. The AU designation at the end of the model # is the color code for Alabaster + Onyx per FADA catalogs of the era.
Catalin Cabinet and trim have no cracks, chips, or repairs. This is a great example of an all-original early FADA. Radio was found in Europe and has a Eurpoean plug; few Fada Catalin radios were made for export.
The radio measures 7.75" wide by 5" high by 4.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
